Corvette C8
2020–Present
The Mid-Engine Era
The C8 Story
The C8 transformed the Corvette by placing the engine behind the driver for the first time in production history. The result is a supercar layout at a Corvette price, with exotic styling, a dual-clutch transmission, and performance that rivals cars costing several times more. The C8 opened a new chapter while keeping the Corvette accessible.
Design Evolution
The C8's mid-engine proportions are unmistakable — a low nose, a long rear deck, and massive intakes feeding the engine behind the cabin. The interior is a cockpit-inspired space with a driver-focused layout and a long center divider. The Z06 added aggressive aero, and the E-Ray introduced all-wheel drive and hybrid power.
Performance & Engineering
Moving the engine behind the driver gave the C8 a low center of gravity and rear-biased balance that transformed handling. The LT2 V8 sends power through a Tremec dual-clutch transmission — the first automatic-only Corvette. The Z06's flat-plane-crank V8 revs to 8600 rpm, and the E-Ray adds a front electric motor for all-wheel-drive launch.
